Is A Hidden Powerpoint Included In My TV Install? - Here’s What You Need to Know

Updated: Jan 4

When you’re opting for a professional TV wall mount installation, a hidden power point is a key feature offered by licensed electricians at InVision that keeps your setup looking sleek and free of all messy wires & cables.

But is this included in your install package? The answer depends on a few factors, primarily the location of existing power points and the structure behind your walls.

Most modern homes have vertical wooden beams behind the plasterboard, known as studs, which provide support for your walls.

These studs can either help or complicate the process of running a new hidden power point.

If there’s already an accessible power point within 1 meter of where your TV will be mounted, our installers can typically run the necessary wiring without any issue.

However, when a power point is further away or located on a different wall, we may need to install a brand-new point behind the TV.

This is where the placement of the studs comes into play.

Running wires horizontally between 1-2 studs is possible with holes cut in the plaster, but if the studs are spaced too closely or too far apart, it can limit our ability to move the power point freely.

That’s why it’s important to understand that while a hidden power point is included in many installs, special circumstances may require additional work—and an extra cost—if a new point has to be installed. We’ll assess this on-site to give you the best, most efficient setup possible.
